BEIJING - CHENGDU - LHASA - GYANSTE - SHIGATSE

AND RETURN FROM TIBET BY TRAIN TO BEIJING - A Spectacular Journey into TIBET.

Parts of this journey involve high altitudes, over 4000 meters (13000 ft.) above sea level. This should not be a problem although everyone should take care. If you suffer from heart or respiratory conditions please consult your doctor before travel

 ITINERARY

DAY 1:  LONDON/ BEIJING  London on direct flight to BEIJING

DAY 2:  BEIJING On arrival transfer to hote for a 2 night stay. (D)

DAY 3:  BEIJING  Free day in Beijing to relax enjoy the city.      

DAY 4:  BEIJING/CHENGDU After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport for flight to Chengdu (2.5 hours) on arrival meet local guide and transfer to your hotel for 1 night. In the afternoon visit the Wuhou Temple and Jin Li Ming and Qing high street and also Wenshu Buddhist temple. In the evening a Szechuan Culture Show “Changing Faces “and hand shadow performance.    Overnight Hotel.    (B/D)

DAY 5:  CHENGDU / LHASA  Morning visit to the world's largest Panda research and breeding conservation institute then transfer to the the airport for afternoon flight to Lhasa. On arrival in Lhasa transfer by road to the city (2 hours) and check-in to your hotel.  Remainder of the day free to adjust to the altitude etc.    (B/L/D

DAY 6:    LHASA  In the morning visit the Potala Palace, in afternoon Jokhan temple and Barkhor Street (famous market in Lhasa).  Return to Lhasa hotel   B/L/D

DAY 7 : LHASA Visit Drepung and the world’s largest monastery and surrounding areas. Plus Sera temple which is most famous for debating the Buddhism scriptures. Full day. You will also get great views of the whole of the city and distant mountains.   Various stops.    Return to Lhasa hotel.    B/L/D

DAY 8 LHASA/GYANGSTE  Drive today about 300km to Gyangtse. Visit Yumco Lake and view Glaciers Etc. Visit Palkhor temple and Yamdrok Lake which is one of the 4 holy Lakes. In the distance you can, in clear weather, see the huge massif of Mt Nojin Kangstang (7191m) plus various stops. Overnight Gyangste.   ( Gyangste Hotel)        B/L/D

 DAY 9  GYANGSTE/SHIGATSE  Drive 90km to Shigatse the second largest city in Tibet and home of the Panchen Lama. Visit  Tashilumpo monastery where there are many rare Artifacts etc.   This town is famous for skilled carpet weavers.      Overnight Shigatse.   ( Shigatse Hotel)      B/L/D

DAY 10 : SHIGASTE/ LHASA Full day drive back to Lhasa via Yampachen where you can see hot springs, Grasslands etc.  various stops.  Overnight Lhasa. (Lhasa Hotel)     B/L/D.

DAY 11  LHASA/ BEIJING Drive from Hotel to board to the train for journey back to Beijing.

DAY 12  : ON TRAIN Full day/night on board train. (Food extra- good restaurant)

DAY 13:  TRAIN/ BEIJING Arrive in morning in Beijing and transfer to hotel (Qiananmen-Jianguo Hotel) for overnight stay. To finish, an included evening “Kung Fu”show.

DAY 14: BEIJING/ LONDON Transfer to airport for   return flight. Depart Beijing   As you are traveling in a westwards direction your arrival will be the same day.
