Brief itinerary:
DAY 1. Depart London for flight to HanoiDAY 2: Arrive Hanoi and transfer to your hotel for a 2 night stay. This afternoon we take to the streets aboard cyclos – Vietnam’s answer to the rickshaw – for a tour of the Ancient Quarter, or 36 Streets district. This evening, enjoy an included welcome dinner. Overnight in hotel, Hanoi.
DAY 3: B/L/D: A tour in the morning. You will see the recently restored Opera House, before visiting the One Pillar Pagoda and Ba Dinh Square, and Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum).This evening include Water Puppet show. Overnight in hotel, Hanoi.
DAY 4: B/L/D: Travel overland to Halong Bay, a truly beautiful spot. You will board a traditional wooden junk for a cruise and overnight stay amongst the dramatic limestone peaks that rise out of the sea. You will also enter one of the vast caves of gigantic stalactites and stalagmites. On board, you’ll enjoy a delicious seafood lunch and dinner. Overnight on board, Ha Long Bay
DAY 5: BRUNCH, D) After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue, former capital of Vietnam, where we stay 2 nights. Your evening is at leisure. Overnight in hotel, Hue.
DAY 6: B/ L) Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Hue, where you will visit the Thien Mu Pagoda in its gorgeous setting overlooking the Perfume River, and the majestic royal tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Overnight in hotel, Hue.
DAY 7: B/D In the morning, drive to Hoi An via Danang for a two nights stay. Relax in the afternoon. Dinner in the hotel tonight. Overnight in hotel, Hoi An.
DAY 8: B/L: Hoi An is a delight – a picturesque, ancient riverside town and the most enchanting place on the Vietnamese coast. A morning walking tour of its quaint streets includes the Japanese Covered Bridge, a 200 year old merchant’s house, and the 15th century Chuc Thanh Pagoda. In the afternoon there will be an optional guided bicycle ride into the countryside, passing homes, vegetable and fruit gardens, a husking mill and a temple on your way to a nearby village. DAY 9: B/D Afternoon flight to Ho Chi Minh City, better known as Saigon, for a three night stay. This afternoon included city tour visiting the Presidential Palace, the War Museum and the famous shopping street. Overnight in hotel, Saigon.
DAY 10:,(B/L)Visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing series of underground passages first constructed in the late 1940s by the peasant army fighting the French and later extended by the Viet Cong rebels. Your afternoon is free The Lunch is in a local restaurant. Overnight in hotel, Saigon
.DAY 11 (B, D) A fabulous full day journey deep into the Mekong Delta. You will drive first to Cai Be, on the River Mekong, where you will board a boat to cross the wide river, and then cruise through every shade of green along narrow inlets and canals to a lunch stop at a farmer’s house. Visits will be made to local workshops along the river, return to Saigon in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel, Saigon.
DAY 12: SAIGON DEPARTURE /B
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Or continue to Cambodia tour extension*.
