CHINESE VISAS
All travel to China from UK requires an entry visa.
Full details can be obtained from: www.chinese-embassy.org.uk
A tourist visa usually requires one completed application form, one recent passport size photograph, a valid passport and travel information. (our confirmation invoice will normally suffice.)
The Chinese embassy prefers applications in person or through a visa agency. Postal applications are not accepted.
Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Permits |
|
Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Permits are
necessary for entry to Lhasa or any other part of the
Tibetan Autonomous Region,
and are obtained through tour operators as part of arrangements for
travel; A T.T.B. permit does not obviate the need for an Aliens' Travel
Permit for any closed areas that may be visited. But you can get them
easily.
4. There is a service charge (by the government) to get the Tibet permit
which is 7 US dollars
per person.
There are two kinds of permits for traveling in Tibet: the entry permit
(TTB permit) and the Alien's travel permit (PSB permit). The TTB permit
is for entering Tibet and any foreigner who wants to travel to Tibet
must obtain this permit. If you want to go further to the "unopened"
areas (which means out of Lhasa area), you need an Alien's travel permit
issued by PSB of Tibet. It is called "Alien's Travel Permit" or "PSB
permit". You need to apply for your Chinese visa first. But please carefully note: you are highly advised when you apply for the Chinese visa, you should not tell the officer that you have plans for traveling to Tibet; you can only inform them you want to travel to somewhere else in China. The application would become complicated and arduous if Tibet was mentioned on your documents. |
If you enter Tibet from Kathmandu, you are required to obtain a Chinese visa in the consulate of P.R China in Kathmandu, the opening time for the Consulate of P.R China in Kathmandu is only available from 9:30AM-11:00AM on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please note this visa application is compulsory despite you may have already had a Chinese visa issued in your country. This is regulated by the border treaty signed between Nepal and China. In this case, you need to come to Nepal several days before your departure to Tibet. Fees can be advised to you.
Travel to Tibet independently is not allowed until now. Your tour must be organised by a tour agency and you must be accompanied with a local tour guide during your trip.
